Bintsuke is camellia oil and has a sweet and distinctive fragrance. A few times I was asked why sumo wrestlers used talcum powder. They may or may not use it after bathing, but I always assumed those questioners were confusing the smell of the bintsuke hair wax with their memory of talcum powder’s scent.
