Just for starters, regular consumption of white rice and being “overweight” (as defined using BMI) both bring higher risk of diabetes. Both apply to most all sumotori I suspect.

I have wondered why diabetes is an affliction of sumo rikishi. Would have thought they were too young to be troubled by this.
Any thoughts from the group?
